San Diego Ambrosia is somewhat adapted to dry conditions, but may require periodic flooding for some portion of its life cycle.  Arundo overlaps in range and habitat, creating direct competition. Arundo debris may cover the plant's habitat or modify stream flow and sediment accumulation in a way that can impact future growth.
